Resumo:This article proposes the creation of a specialized dictionary focused on the colloquial lexicon used by bricklayers in San Alejo, La Unión, El Salvador. The main objective of this study is to compile, classify, define, document, and preserve terms specific to the trade, understood as fundamental elements of local linguistic and cultural heritage. A mixed-method approach was used to obtain the data, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques. The main tool used was a survey designed to explore the lexicon by presenting images of tools, building materials, and techniques used in masonry, in order to identify the polysemy associated with certain terms and processes. The sample consisted of 50 participants, of whom 95% were men and 5% were women, results allowed identify lexical, semantics and culturals variations in the mason’s language of San Alejo. At once having results the procedure of tabulation was started, which was done in Microsoft Excel, it allowed to us to elicit word used with highest frequency, therefore, they were alphabetically ordered from a letter to t letter. thus, we bulit a corpus. a proposal of dictionary was done alphabetically ordered, including definitions, lexicon sustitution proof and a structure of presentation.
