The specific sample size will be based on what degree of confidence the industrial engineer desires. For example, to be 100% correct, a continuous observation would be required. However, if a close estimate, such as a 95% confidence level is desired, a sample size based on statistical sampling techniques could be developed. A computer program, based on statistical theory, has been developed to accomplish this. A case study is presented to illustrate the application of this program.
