520 3 |a The Internet revolution has provided numerous new technologies, primarily driven by the capitalist nature of our society. Today's business environment has driven the creation of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) and the Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL). In addition to capitalist driven technologies, the desire to better the current technologies and methodologies brought about the advent of design patterns. Design patterns are proven applications and theories utilized in many disciplines, one being software development, that provide a proven solution to a recurring problem. The objective of this research was to meld design patterns with the Internet technology, Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT), to arrive at the beginning of a patterns catalog for XSLT. This catalog will in turn provide a beneficial springboard for the continued use and research into XSLT design patterns.
