| Sažetak: | The national average -- including both the state and national portions of the tax -- increased from $182 per employee in 1991 to $203 in 1992. At an average of $254.80 per employee in 1992, Connecticut ranks near the middle of the pack -- at 22 -- up five slots from its ranking of 27 last year in the survey by Laurdan Associates, a Maryland-based consulting firm. Connecticut employers aren't just paying the tax these days for unemployment. Last month, they were forced had to pay $40 million in interest on the more than $500 million the state has borrowed from a federal trust fund to keep checks coming to Connecticut's jobless. Ron Adler, president of Laurdan Associates, said Connecticut was one of justonly three states that had to borrow from the federal trust fund as of the end of the first quarter of this year. |
