| Resumo: | [Wilson] and [Chuck Quackenbush] are Republicans and reportedly good friends. But there have been ongoing differences between at least their top aides over Quackenbush's high-profile push for the public earthquake pool. Those differences burst into the open recently when Wilson's insurance specialist, consumer affairs director Marjorie Berte, took a public stand against Quackenbush's bid to fill the authority's three top positions, and against the rates the Department of Insurance proposed for CEA policies. "Commissioner Quackenbush has some fairly serious inherent conflicts," said Consumer Union's [Bill Ahern]. "The fear is that being insurance commissioner and the major proponent of this, he can select rates and select officials that could favor large insurance companies to the detriment of small insurance companies and to the detriment of companies that don't join the CEA." |
