| 520 | 3 | |a Uma das questões mais recorrentes nas instituições que lidam com a curadoria de bens ligados a um patrimônio cultural é a da organização do conhecimento em seus acervos. Esse tema tem, cada vez mais, levantado debates sobre as melhores formas de promover a representação e a interoperabilidade dos dados destes bens na web. Um fator que deve ser observado nessa questão é o de que campos específicos de acervos culturais apresentam características próprias que balizam a eleição e recolha de itens considerados bens culturais. Tal fato influencia o modo de organizar esses itens, que formam um heterogêneo e interligado campo documental, composto de diferentes tipos físicos de objetos e de coleções especiais, a ser disponibilizado pela internet. Os usos das tecnologias da Web Semântica e os princípios Linked Data– que constituem uma proposta de descrição e interoperabilidade de dados de diferentes procedências, de modo aberto e vinculado – têm sido apontados como possíveis facilitadores para suprir os anseios das instituições de memória científica de organizar, integrar e disponibilizar os diversos dados de seu patrimônio cultural. Dentro desse âmbito semântico, a possibilidade de interligar diferentes recursos através de relações associativas, no intuito de aumentar a descoberta de objetos digitais e de criar uma rede mais inteligível de dados na web, tornou-se um dos pontos de interesse para a Ciência da Informação. Assim, esta tese explora como tais possibilidades associativas podem oferecer uma melhor organização do conhecimento em campos de acervos culturais mais específicos, como o do Patrimônio Cultural Científico, ao investigar o uso de mapas conceituais para descobrir e representar as relações associativas entre bens documentais deste domínio e a harmonização de tais relações com metadados de vocabulários preexistentes, pondo em prática o reúso de termos já estabelecidos. O resultado constituiu na criação de um conjunto de diretrizes que ajudem instâncias documentais do Patrimônio Cultural Científico a organizar melhor os objetos digitais dos seus acervos na web, apoiando-se nas premissas da Web Semântica de uso de propriedades associativas, para a fomentação de uma rede de dados de bens documentais científicos. One of the most recurrent points in institutions that work with the curation of cultural heritage is the organization of knowledge in their collections. This theme has raised debates on the best ways to promote the representation and interoperability of data from these goods on the web. A factor that should be noted in this question is that specific fields of cultural collections have their own characteristics that guide the selection and collection of items considered cultural heritage. This fact influences the way of organizing such items, which form a heterogeneous and interconnected documentary field, composed of different physical types of objects and special collections, to be made available on the internet. The uses of Semantic Web technologies and Linked Data principles – which present a proposal for the description and interoperability of data from different sources, in an open and linked way – have been identified as possible facilitators to meet the aspirations of scientific memory institutions, in organize, integrate, and make available the various data of its cultural heritage. Within this semantic scope, the possibility of interconnecting different resources through associative relationships, to increase the discovery of digital objects and to create a more intelligible network of data on the web, has become one of the points of interest for Information Science. In this way, this thesis explores how such associative possibilities can offer a better organization of knowledge in fields of more specific cultural collections, such as the Scientific Heritage, by investigating the use of conceptual maps to discover the associative relationships of documentary assets in this domain and the harmonization of such relationships with metadata from pre-existing vocabularies, from the practice of reusing already established terms. The result was the creation of a set of guidelines that help documental instances of the Scientific Cultural Heritage to better organize the digital objects of their collections on the web, based on the premises of the Semantic Web for the use of associative properties, to foster a network of data from scientific documental goods. | |
