El Liceo Granadino y la Academia Nacional: Razones del “fracaso” de dos proyectos institucionales en la Nueva Granada

| Bài tóm tắt: | Este artículo expone las principales razones por las que las dos empresas culturales más ambiciosas propuestas por la élite intelectual de Nueva Granada entre 1856 y 1857, el Liceo Granadino y la Academia Nacional, no se llevaron a cabo, pese a los visibles beneficios que podrían reportar para el progreso de la nación. Se argumentará que estas propuestas eran inviables por dos razones principales. Con respecto a la Academia Nacional, se demostrará que el proyecto fracasó debido a que no obtuvo ningún apoyo estatal del Congreso de la República para cumplir sus objetivos. En cuanto al Liceo Granadino, se sugiere que los intereses partidistas que afloraron al interior de la junta directiva generaron un visible malestar entre algunos miembros de la corporación, lo que en poco tiempo truncó su consolidación institucional. Para contribuir a entender estos acontecimientos, el escrito también expone el contexto histórico en el que surgieron estos proyectos culturales. This paper explains the main reasons why the two most ambitious cultural projects proposed by the intellectual elite of Nueva Granada between 1856 and 1857, the Liceo Granadino and the Academia Nacional, were not realized, despite the visible benefits they could have brought to the progress of the nation. It will be argued that these proposals were not feasible for two main reasons. With regard to the Academia Nacional, it will be shown that the project failed because it did not receive state support from the Congress of the Republic to fulfill its objectives. With regard to the Liceo Granadino, it is suggested that the partisan interests that emerged within the board of directors created a visible uneasiness among some members of the corporation, which quickly interrupted its institutional consolidation. In order to contribute to the understanding of these events, the article also presents the historical context in which these cultural projects were born. |
