Descripción
Resumen:This thesis explores the integration of spiritual ideals from 12-step recovery programs into psychotherapy, particularly in relation to depth psychology, and focuses on how these principles—such as surrender, spirituality, confession, and service—can enhance traditional therapeutic approaches. Despite the effectiveness of 12-step programs in addiction recovery, there is insufficient research on their broader application as a spiritual grounding practice within therapy. By examining the spiritual underpinnings of the 12 steps and their relationship to depth psychological perspectives through a hermeneutic lens, this study investigates what psychotherapists can learn from these programs and how integrating these principles may foster healing for clients. The findings of this study have the potential to inform clinical practice by equipping depth psychotherapists with practical strategies that help clients navigate complex psychological challenges, foster ego development, and deepen self-understanding.
