| Resumen: | Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness that disproportionately impacts underprivileged communities due to the high cost and limited accessibility of conventional diagnostic tools like the Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) test. This thesis introduces GlaucTest, a VR-assisted smartphone application designed for at-home visual field testing. GlaucTest integrates a $20 virtual reality headset, a $10 mouse, and a smartphone (iOS or Android), making glaucoma detection affordable and accessible. The application replicates the HVF’s 24-2 perimetry standard, presenting stimuli across 54 test points while recording user responses for analysis. With integrated features such as blind spot analysis, false-positive detection, and cloud-based result storage, GlaucTest empowers patients and clinicians to monitor visual health remotely. A clinical study with 54 participants demonstrated GlaucTest’s diagnostic accuracy, achieving 100% sensitivity and 98.92% specificity. Most participants reported a preference for GlaucTest over traditional methods, citing its ease of use and accessibility. By bridging gaps in healthcare delivery, GlaucTest establishes itself as a scalable and cost-effective solution to a pressing global public health issue. |
