| Resumen: | Information Systems (IS) and Information Technology (IT) fields face a unique challenge because of the constant changes in the underlying technologies that need to be taught. The rapid overturn of content leads us to need a variety of strategies to maintain an up-to-date curriculum for our programs. This research continues a seventeen-year data collection project that aims to help IS and IT faculty identify trends in employer needs regarding the skills they expect from new hires upon graduation. This research marks the seventh deployment of a survey to IS/IT workers. We provide a summary of over 350 responses from IS/IT professionals. This iteration of the survey includes additional questions and insights about salaries and certifications. Noteworthy findings from this round of data collection include the surge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the most important platform for the near future. There is a need for educators to evaluate how to incorporate AI into our courses while still ensuring that students are gaining knowledge about the various topics AI is touching. |
