520 3 |a This project seeks to examine the Private Speech, defined as a form of language that begins at about age three and involves audible speech directed to the self, used to improve self-regulation as well as spark intellectual growth (Kerr, 1997). Vygotsky speaks of observing this in younger children and ascertains its progression to Internal Voice (for distinction, any speech not spoken or just within the mind) then to the idea of Self Talk, a silent thought process of speaking formed upon beliefs, ideas, and musings, etc. of the subconscious mind. Data gathered from adult subjects using the Descriptive Experience Sampling (DES), Nevada Inner Experience Questionnaire (NIEQ) and the Varieties of Inner Speech Questionnaire (VISQ) as well as Vygotsky’s own observations in children have been included. A further look at this Self Talk reveals its influence on one’s view of the world about as it creates the basis for reality, as it exists in the mind. Further research on the connection between what is heard as a child and what goes on in the mind of the adult is crucial because it is this mantra that is carried by the listener. Children should be exposed to positive speak so as to develop self confidence, balance, leadership skills, kindness, a good outlook on life, etc. Speaking with intention and facilitating positive Self Talk for children, teens and young adults is greatly important and dependent on a shift in educational practice. An analysis of the findings show possibilities for shifts in educational doctrine geared towards (second language) L2 and (English as a Second Language) ESL learners, students with Autism, disabilities, and mental health concerns at various stages in human development. Workshop materials and lesson plans have been created to help Montessori teachers and school leaders incorporate positive thought practices into the daily curriculum. From within the burgeoning scientific field of consciousness studies, the hope is that perhaps these ideas shall bring about a method to increase positive thinking as well as mindfulness, bringing attention to the law of attraction and abundance theory. A further look reveals the influence and the benefits thereof in creating the basis of one’s view of reality and the world.
