| Abstract: | The modeling of a two-level atom (qubit) coupled to a cavity using the Jaynes–Cummings Hamiltonian (JCH) and the Lindblad Master Equation (LME) is investigated in this thesis. The fundamental principles of the JCH that govern the coupling between a two-level atom and a resonant cavity are reviewed. Additionally, the system parameters and boundary conditions are critically analyzed to understand their role in the system dynamics. This thesis is intended as both an introduction and a reference for newcomers to atom–cavity physics. Simulations of the JCH and LME are used to characterize the influence of key system parameters. These are performed with the QuTiP Python library and quantify relationships between system parameters. |
