| Resumen: | Chile, Historia 1920-1933 - Antiimperialismo - Chile y Estados Unidos - Política Exterior - Enclaves mineros - Conflicto de Tacna-Arica - Pan-Americanismo - Racismo - Caricatura - Prensa Abstract From 1900 onwards, Chileans increasingly experienced first-hand encounters with the business culture and products from the U.S. The fascination with modernity, reflected in these products, was widespread. Throughout the 1920s, the circle of those who condemned U.S. foreign policy widened, and the negative judgment of the U.S. as usurper became central to the popular conception of the 'Yankee.' [...]criticism regarding the actions of the Americans in the mining enclaves converged with frustrating experiences in the context of bilateral relations and growing concern about Washington's superiority, a feeling experienced in Latin America and the rest of the world.
