| Resumen: | This thesis investigates the layered and often contradictory experience of being multiracial, drawing from the author’s personal background and cultural context. Rooted in Brazil—where most of the population is of mixed heritage—and developed largely in the United States, the project examines how racial identity is understood and lived across these two national contexts. Through a series of autobiographical stories told through illustration, animation, and prose, the work explores themes of identity, memory, and belonging. These narratives are woven together into a final book that integrates creative storytelling with historical context, academic research, and graphic design. By illuminating aspects of everyday life that often go unspoken—such as language, food, and family memory—Mixed contributes to ongoing conversations about what it means to exist between categories. At once a personal archive and a cultural reflection, this project offers insight into the complexity and nuance of multiracial identity. |
