Description
Abstract:If Latin Catholics who have Celiac disease or another serious medical condition preventing them from consuming gluten or wheat are properly disposed, request the Sacrament at an appropriate time, and are not prohibited by law, they have a right to receive Communion safely from sacred ministers. Certain persons, especially pastors and bishops, in turn, have the obligation to provide for this right in their care of souls within the limits of the law and sound theological doctrine. Universal law and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops have provided the necessary groundwork for the implementation of sound-diocesan policies that need to be more effectively communicated and implemented on the parish-level.
