513 |a Instructional Report
520 3 |a As artificial intelligence reshapes many aspects of society and workforce, many colleges and universities have focused on developing technical AI programs within computer science departments. But preparing students and faculty for an AI-enabled future requires more than technical training--it demands a broader approach to AI literacy and innovation across disciplines. This playbook features detailed case studies from the University of Louisiana System, University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Arizona State University, showcasing innovative approaches that range from system-wide AI literacy microcredentials serving over 82,000 students to targeted faculty mini-grant programs fostering cross-disciplinary innovation. Each case study provides insights into both successes and challenges, paired with tactical lessons learned and practical tips for implementation. Along with its case studies, this report is a practical toolkit for action. The publication includes six ready-to-use resources that institutions can adapt to their own contexts: (1) AI literacy microcredential brainstorming guide; (2) AI literacy reading list; (3) AI mini-grant proposal form; (4) faculty fellow job description template; (5) AI innovation challenge announcement template; and (6) innovation challenge submission evaluation rubric. These resources provide policymakers and practitioners with actionable tools to implement AI for student success on campus.
