Popis
Abstrakt:This qualitative case study explored the causes of budget overruns and identified effective mitigation strategies in geographically dispersed Agile project management teams. As Agile methodologies and remote work structures became increasingly prevalent, controlling project budgets had become a critical challenge. The study involved 20 semistructured interviews and a focus group with Agile professionals, including project managers, product owners, Scrum Masters, and developers from small to medium-sized multinational corporations. The findings highlighted scope creep, failure to estimate the budget accurately, and ineffective project plans as primary contributors to budget overruns. In contrast, the integration of a change management process, accurate forecasting and budget reviews, detailed communications plans, and tools and technologies emerged as key mitigators. Data were analyzed using narrative and thematic techniques, with triangulation enhancing credibility. Grounded in a conceptual framework that emphasized communication transparency, adherence to scope, technology integration, budget strategy, and risk controls, this research addressed a critical gap in Agile literature by providing practical insights for project leaders and stakeholders seeking to improve budget adherence and overall project success in globally dispersed Agile environments.
