Descripció
Resum:This thesis explores Mary the Mother of Jesus’ role and eschatological inspiration concerning her relationship with the Church and the human beings. Mary’s relationship with the Church and human persons hinges upon her relationship with the Persons of the Blessed Trinity and her God given standing in the work of Redemption. While the Systematic Doctrine of Eschatology is a discipline in his own right, and so too the Doctrine of Mariology, this thesis explores the connections between Eschatology and Mariology by virtue of the fact that the Roman Catholic Church refers to her as an Eschatological Icon and her Son, Jesus Christ, as the Eschaton, whose second coming forms the central event in Christian Eschatology and who will usher in fullness of the Kingdom of God. The thesis investigates Mary, as the prime eschatological archetype, whose life and personhood provide invaluable theological paradigms for the church to work towards eschatological readiness and bring God’s plan of salvation to fruition. The thesis proposes that Catholic adherents, through fostering a subjective relationship with Mary by embracing Marian spirituality, which includes Marian consecration, is a credible means to assist the Church and her people to bring about eschatological readiness and reunion with the divine.
