Abstract:This Master’s Thesis focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of a digital course entitled “Understanding the Fundamental Concepts of Market Functioning”, aimed at 12th grade students within the Greek high school Economics curriculum. The main objective of the course is to enhance students’ economic literacy, improve their preparation for the Panhellenic Examinations, and foster 21st-century skills such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, and self-regulated learning. The methodological framework was based on microlearning principles, dividing the syllabus into small, self-contained units, each associated with specific learning outcomes and interactive activities. The course was implemented on a digital platform and integrated multimodal tools (Google Slides, H5P, Google Forms, Mentimeter), which promotes active participation, conceptual understanding, and immediate feedback. The instructional content covers core microeconomic topics including demand, supply, elasticities, production and cost, market equilibrium, and government interventions. This study contributes both to the practical application of digital learning in secondary education and to the broader academic discussion on the effectiveness of microlearning. Furthermore, it provides a model digital course that may be adapted for other subject areas within the school curriculum, demonstrating how technology-supported learning can bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
