| Resumen: | El navarro Martín de Redín, fue un importante religioso, militar y político español, que alcanzó las más altas cotas en cada una de estas facetas de su vida. Como religioso ostentó los cargos de gran prior de Navarra; y gran maestre, de la orden de San Juan de Jerusalén. Como militar, llegó a ser capitán general de Galicia y Cataluña y también virrey de Sicilia; demostrando ser un grandísimo político, que actúa siempre como agente de la monarquía hispánica y hábil religioso sanjuanista. Jugó un papel fundamental tanto en el reino de Navarra, en el que defendió su autonomía y fueros, pero siempre leal a la corona. Y en la orden de Malta, ejerciendo de manera ejemplar los cargos de responsabilidad que tuvo que asumir. Martín de Redín, from Navarre, was an important Spanish religious figure, military leader and politician, who reached the highest levels in each of these facets of his life. As a religious figure, he held the positions of Grand Prior of Navarre and Grand Master of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. As a military figure, he became Captain General of Galicia and Catalonia and, Viceroy of Sicily, proving himself to be a great politician who always acted as an agent of the Spanish monarchy and a skilled member of the Order of Saint John. He played a fundamental role both in the Kingdom of Navarre, where he defended its autonomy and privileges, while remaining loyal to the Crown, and in the Order of Malta, where he performed his duties in an exemplary manner. |
