| Resum: | This dissertation aims to study how the column genre came to replace literary journalism in Brazil during the 1950s. The topic emerges from a contemporary, interdisciplinary approach to literary studies, one that draws on History, Anthropology, Sociology, and Communication to offer a more integrated reading of literary forms. Although often classified as a minor genre, the column has particular significance in the Brazilian context, reflecting key aspects of national culture. This study thus seeks to reassess the literary status of the column, arguing for its role as a distinctly Brazilian form of expression. Given the transformation of journalistic media, once the main platform for this genre, it becomes essential to revisit the relationship between genre and medium. Such an analysis offers insight into both the historical trajectory of the chronicles and the directions it may take within postmodern cultural production. |
