Descripción
Resumen:The study of toponymy is of vital importance to avoid its distortion and loss. In this sense, this study contemplates as the main problem the existence of toponyms in their semantic and lexical dimension in the district of San Juan de Salinas in the province of Azángaro and department of Puno – Peru, for this reason, the objective was to determine the minor toponymy of the aforementioned district through a lexical-semantic study and the proposal to record through documentary and oral sources. The methodology applied in the study responds to the qualitative approach, ethnographic method; a morphological, phonetic and lexical analysis was carried out on those linguistic particularities of the toponyms found and classify them in semantic fields and study them according to their possible etymological origin. The techniques used were observation and interview. The sample was formed through a non-probabilistic voluntary sampling, composed of 10 native inhabitants between 45 and 90 years of age. The results show that the place names of the study site can be represented phonetically with the Quechua consonantal system, in addition, they have Quechua, Spanish and Spanish-Quechua linguistic affiliation (hybrids). It is concluded that the place names of the district of San Juan de Salinas are still salvageable since they live in the memory of the elders, their registration and analysis is necessary for the knowledge of future generations
