Abstrákta:Many students struggle with mathematics including adults returning to college after time in the workforce. Some have math anxiety, and others are just overwhelmed by formulas and equations. Different theories and strategies have been developed to assess how best to help students who are struggling with mathematics. Game based learning is a fairly recent strategy. One of the reasons for using games to help with learning, not just math but other subjects as well, is to make learning less tedious and perhaps perceived as fun. When students use a game, they become immersed in it and forget that they are learning math. In today's world of technological advances, does online gaming software enhance the learning experience? The purpose of this research project is to analyze the effects, if any, of game based learning on adult students taking algebra in a community college.
