Abstract:	RESUMEN: Para el desarrollo del proceso de investigación centrado en el Diseño del Plan de Desarrollo Económico y Social, en el Municipio de Ciudad Barrios Departamento de San Miguel periodo 2010-2012. Se implementó la metodología cuali-cuantitativa el cual nos permitió conocer el territorio y el desarrollo económico y social con que cuenta el municipio hasta la actualidad, así también permitió identificar los diferentes elementos que deben intervenir en los procesos de desarrollo de la comunidad. En el proceso de la investigación se realizaron una serie de entrevistas y encuestas a las diferentes instituciones y actores locales como a los diferentes líderes de las comunidades del municipio, lo que nos permitió tener acceso a información importante tanto para el desarrollo de los capítulos y propuestas de desarrollo económico y social. ABSTRACT: For the development of the research process focused on the Design of the Economic and Social Development Plan, in the Municipality of Ciudad Barrios, Department of San Miguel, period 2010-2012. The qualitative-quantitative methodology was implemented, which allowed us to know the territory and the economic and social development that the municipality has up to the present, as well as allowing us to identify the different elements that should intervene in the development processes of the community. In the research process, a series of interviews and surveys were carried out with the different institutions and local actors, as well as with the different leaders of the communities of the municipality, which allowed us to have access to important information for the development of the chapters and proposals. of economic and social development.
