| Περίληψη: | This article presents some conceptual proposals for the study of breast cancer from the perspective of Social Sciences and Public Health, in the context of indigenous communities in Mexico, particularly in northern Sinaloa.
Attitudes and behaviors when faced with a breast cancer diagnosis vary due to cultural factors, complementary to other variables such as personality, among others, they give meaning to the interpretation and meaning that each individual gives to the disease. The social effects that are detached from the oncological process are identified as being impacted in terms of interpersonal relationships. There is little reference regarding the social support that is provided to women with breast cancer, where the need for accompaniment and support during the process is evidenced, presenting relevance in the stage that is diagnosed since it may require hospitalization, which entails dependence of a relative to meet their needs, in the same way the health personnel play an important role in this part since they are in charge of ensuring that patients adhere to treatment and that they have quality of life during their recovery. |
