Тойм:This study is based on a survey drawn a probabilistic sample of 794 and representative of people over 18 years of age, of Dominican descent, in the seven states where approximately 85 % of Dominicans living in the UU.EE.: New York, New Jersey, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The descriptive statistical results revealed in this piece encompass four indispensable aspects to explain the live experience of the community of Dominicans residing in the U.S. during the pandemic of the SARS-CoV-2, or COVID-19: a) the incidence of the virus and the propensity to comply with the standards established by the health authorities; b) the stress suffered in the face of fear, confinement and social control; and c) evidence of a generational change expressed in the use of media and social networks to receive information about the virus and national health status. Interviews were conducted between October 5 and November 11, 2021. This study is the first of its kind to disaggregate people of Dominican origin in the U.S. and analyze how they have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
