Yhteenveto:The text starts by problematizing the importance of values in scientific activity. From a socio-historical and constructivist perspective, a journey is made in order to show how the values that are constructed within scientific communities are strongly influenced by the economic, political, social and cultural environment, as well as by the commitments, interests and preferences shown by men and women in science, who, at different times and places, establish conditions that enable, determine or drive the construction of such values. The transformational nature of these values becomes evident, which leads us to the need for scientific communities to carry out a continuous self-reflexivity so that, in a critical manner, and with an ethical-political commitment, they can analyze the socio-historical conditions that have led them to construct the values that prevail in their communities, as well as the possible and desirable scenarios for their transformation
