Sumari:This paper examines some of the theories and concepts regarding human settlements, called "informal settlements", "invasions", "land grabs", "witch slums", depending on the region. For this research, theoretical sets are used to analyze the process of informal land tenure in the city. Although the phenomenon of settlements is part of the Latin American social reality, it is necessary to recognize the organizational capacity that exists within these spontaneous communities. Finally, the results of the analysis show that the settlements cannot be defined lightly, but by social and economic causes, in addition to being conformations with an organizational background and that according to their values they create new realities of urbanization
