| Резюме: | In a global context of climate crisis, the energy transition is understood as a set of transformations towards the use of renewable energies. Paradoxically, the move towards decarbonization also implies the need for so-called strategic minerals, including lithium. Given its battery energy storage capacity, this mineral helps to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis. The announcement in 2019 by Bacanora Lithium Plc of the discovery of a lithium deposit in Bacadéhuachi, Sonora, may turn Mexico into a relevant player in the alternative energy sector. The objective of this research is to analyze the lithium landscape in Mexico and the geopolitical implications of its insertion in the energy transition. The study is qualitative/exploratory, with an approach that allows looking at reality from a critical and reflective perspective based on the review of official documents and policies on the exploration and exploitation of lithium in the country. The final reflections revolve around the principles of energetic sovereignty proposed by Mexico for the energy transition and the exclusive uses of lithium for the Nation |
