Gaia:The objective of the research was to identify the perception of the Salvadoran population about the effects on their mental health from the covid-19 pandemic;  The methodology was a quantitative, exploratory, retrospective and field study, using an ad hoc questionnaire considering variables related to mental health, for which a random sample of 500 people residing in the western zone of El Salvador participated, which was defined with statistical procedures and to whom an informed consent was given;  The results allow us to establish that at least 6 out of 10 people show a significant affectation after the schism of the pandemic, and that they currently manifest symptoms associated with: depression, anxiety, stress and in some cases, suicidal desires;  In conclusion, it is necessary to follow up on these results, for which the population must be approached with specialized instruments by affectation to more accurately determine the possibility of a generalized post-traumatic effect.
