Whakarāpopotonga:The recent growth in the number of new and different types of devices for use with personal computers has challenged software engineers to plan new and better ways of developing software to run the devices. For OS/2 device drivers, an improvement would be to code in a high-level language rather than to use assembly language. A practical and proven method of writing OS/2 device drivers in the C programming language is presented. The C language was chosen because of its documented suitability as a systems programming language and because of its universal availability for use on small systems.
