Whakarāpopotonga:In the context of globalization and digitization, English listening and speaking skills are crucial, and multimedia resources bring new opportunities for English listening and speaking teaching. This study aims to explore its application effect in English listening and speaking training. Through a 12-week controlled experiment, learning behavior tracking, and questionnaire survey, the study found that different multimedia resources have varying effects on improving language skills, with dose effects and cognitive load moderating effects. However, excessive reliance on multimedia resources can lead to learners' distraction, weakened self-learning ability, and cannot completely replace real interpersonal communication. This study provides empirical evidence for constructing a precise multimedia language learning system, which will help promote the reform of English listening and speaking teaching and facilitate the digital transformation from “teacher centered” to “learner centered.”
