Description
Abstract:Part of a 10 booklet series on talented and gifted education, the booklet discusses developing and administering policy for talented and gifted students. Some aspects to be considered before implementing a new policy are considered, including social issues, administrative concerns, trends in talented and gifted programs, and instructional provisions. The difference between policy and administrative procedures is examined, along with procedures for policy development and program development and administration. Some brief case studies illustrate problems and procedures in gifted and talented policy administration. Other aspects considered include individualized education programs, resource rooms, the community role, and alternative program options such as team teaching, demonstration classrooms, and alternative schools. A bibliography and a list of sources of information on talented and gifted are included. (DLS)
